City of Szekszárd


SzekszárdSzekszárd, the seat of Tolna County is situated 150 km-s from Budapest, only 50 km-s away from the Hungarian-Croatian border. The South-Transdanubian town with county rights having 35 thousand inhabitants lies on a territory of 96 km2–s and is one of the most important economical, cultural and commercial centers of the region.
The economical potential of Szekszárd is also indicated by the settlement of several financial institutions, trading companies and service providers in the city.
The continuously developing infrastructure and the highly trained labor force in Szekszárd are making the realization of greenfield- and other investments possible. The environment is well prepared for welcoming long term investments also containing strategic elements that reach over the borders.
 

Key industrial sectors in Szekszárd

Machine industry and metal processing:

Here belong the great Szekszárd auto industry car parts makers, but within the sector, several enterprises deals with individual production of machines, parts, devices, tools, wired spark milling, and machine repairs, maintenance, mechanic parts production.

Wood and furniture industry:

Wood industry enterprises deal with creating wood industry and carpentry industry products, producing furniture, and cutting sheets.

Agriculture:

The excellent climate and the quality of the ground are both good for agriculture. Within the sector, the enterprises mostly grow crops (grains, corn, sunflower, forage crops) but growing peppers, grapes, berries, melon and asparagus is also substantial. The bigger agricultural enterprises usually also deal with animal husbandry (cattle, pigs).

Food industry:

The largest employer of the city is Tolnatej Zrt, also a substantial market share holder on the national stage. It produces and markets dairy products. The rest of the food industry companies deals with the production of bakery products, poultry processing, the trade of pre-refrigerated and frozen products, and also winemaking.

Construction industry:

The activities of construction industry companies are wideranging: constructing buildings, roads, bridges, tunnels, public works, light structure halls, swimming pool technology, construction industry insulation, overbuilding, industrial mountainer activities, earth works, cellar works, renewing monuments.

Clothes and textile industry:

In the region, the clothes and textile industry enterprises’ activities include: production of women’s underwear and swimsuits, apparel, thread boosting, technological threads, leather sofas and seats, and travel products.
